St Olaf

A saint for East Anglians?

St Olaf is the patron saint of Norway – a king who died in battle in 1030, was acclaimed a martyr, and to whom miracles of healing have been attributed. He was a king of Norway, yet the roots of his cult and a significant legacy are to be found in East Anglia. Norwich had two churches dedicated to him, and Norwich Cathedral is twinned with his shrine church, Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, Norway. Come and learn more about this enigmatic and sometimes controversial saint.
